Prayer of Gratitude
Please reach out to the treasurer, Trevor Bryan, at tbryan@bryanjupiter.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
Stewardship is about being responsible stewards of the gifts we receive from God, rooted in gratitude. Stewardship includes contributing financially as well as contributing time and talents and being active in ministry and mission and building relationships.
Stewardship supports the worship, pastoral care, formation, outreach, and maintenance of the church campus.
The Catechism teaches us that "The duty of all Christians is to follow Christ; to come together week by week for corporate worship; and to work, pray, and give for the spread of the kingdom of God." Book of Common Prayer 856
A pledge is your response to God's generosity by giving back to your church monetarily.
In the Acts of the Apostles, the early church "held all things in common" by pooling their resources, talents, and goods, for the benefit of all.
Pledging lets the church's leadership team plan effectively for the administration and growth of the church.
New pledges and increases in commitments allow the church to meet increases in annual fixed costs such as property insurance and allow the church to expand ministry budgets and outreach efforts.
St. Luke's operates fiscally on a calendar year. Payments made towards your pledge can be made throughout the year, whether weekly, monthly, quarterly, or in installments that are most convenient for you.
Donations of cash or check may be placed in the offertory plates during Sunday worship. If you need an envelope, please see an usher in the back pews.
You may also donate online at the above PayPal link.
After spending time in prayer, thanking God for the gift of unconditional love and the many blessings in your life, consider a percentage of your household income or an annual amount. Some give 1% while others give 10%, also known as the tithe. This is a matter of personal discernment and can be adjusted each year. Every pledge, inclusive of every size, makes a difference!
Yes, please make sure you are clearly designating the specific destination on your check or PayPal. If you're not sure, please ask.
Examples of specific gifts:
Building Fund: latest project for ADA ramps with handrails into the sanctuary and Gaudet Hall.
Choir Robes: new cassocks and surplices for members of the choir who serve each Sunday.
Summer Camp: for expenses for the first revitalized summer camp sessions in June for Reading Camp.
Afterschool Tutoring: for expenses for the new Wednesday afternoon tutoring beginning in Fall 2024.
Altar Flowers for Sunday: a $40 donation is suggested. The calendar to sign up for flowers for a Sunday is located in the Narthex (entrance of the church).
The undesignated cash collected in the offertory plates on the third Sunday of each month is set aside for charitable gifts at the rector's discretion. You may give directly to these alms if you so wish by writing "rector's discretionary" on your check.
We are so glad you asked! There are multitude of spiritual gifts that are shared when one volunteers with a cheerful heart. Please reach out to the rector or a member of the vestry to discuss. You may be interested in singing in the choir, serving as a greeter, or volunteering with the summer camp. We invite everyone to bring canned goods for the outdoor little free pantry and restock it whenever they are in the neighborhood.
When you sign up for the monthly Good News Letter, you'll see recent pictures and read about how your contribution directly supports this historically African-American, African, Latino/Hispanic congregation in the Tremé neighborhood of New Orleans.
